Our Craft

Made by hand. Made in Hawaii. Made by us.

Every piece of finished jewelry at The Bead Gallery is designed and handcrafted by Jamie and Jason in our Honolulu studio. Not assembled overseas. Not outsourced to a factory. Made here — by us — with our hands, our tools, and materials we personally selected.

No middlemen. No anonymous production line. When you wear something from The Bead Gallery, you're wearing something that your Ohana in Hawaii cared enough to make for you.

Our Promise

"We aim for perfection with every piece we make. Sometimes we land there — and sometimes the stone sits a little different, the wire curves its own way, or the clasp catches light at an angle we didn't plan. That's not a flaw. That's a hand at work. These pieces are made by humans, for humans — and we wouldn't have it any other way."

Handmade in Honolulu

How It Started

The Bead Gallery began in 1997 as a small shop with a big passion — making beautiful things accessible to everyone, from first-time crafters to seasoned jewelers. Jamie and Jason have spent the years since traveling the world to source materials that inspire: gemstone markets in Japan, artisan studios across Asia, and gem shows where relationships with suppliers go back decades.

Today, The Bead Gallery carries over 15,000 products — each one personally selected for quality, beauty, and the joy it can bring to a maker's workbench or a wearer's necklace.

The Same Materials, The Same Standard

When you buy a finished necklace or bracelet from us, it's made with the exact same gemstones, gold fill, sterling silver, and findings you see in our store. There's no separate "finished jewelry" supply chain — our workbench and your shopping cart share the same inventory.

If a material is good enough for us to create with, it's good enough for us to sell — and vice versa.

We Inspect Everything
Every material that comes through our doors gets checked by hand. If a strand arrives and the cut isn't right, the color is off, or the luster isn't there — it goes back. Our name is on every piece. That matters to us.

Why Almost Everything Is One of a Kind

We cherry-pick. That's what curation means to us — not buying in bulk, but choosing the pieces that stop us in our tracks. A strand with the perfect luster. A stone cut we've never seen before. A finding from a supplier we've trusted for twenty years. The result is a lot of variety, but a little of each.

Our inventory spans materials from the last hundred years to the present — vintage glass from the Czech Republic alongside gemstones we brought home last month. Most of what we carry will never be repeated in its exact form. When a piece is gone, it's truly gone.

It's just the two of us — running a brick-and-mortar shop, a website, and a studio. We do what we can, when we can, driven by our passion for beads, for sharing what we know, and for providing something meaningful to our community.

That's the honest truth of a small, independent jewelry business. We're not trying to be everything to everyone. We're trying to be something real to the people who find us.

What Sets Our Jewelry Apart

Made in Hawaii

Designed and assembled by hand in our Honolulu studio. No outsourcing. No factories. Just us.

Same Materials

We use the same curated gemstones, metals, and findings that we sell to fellow makers.

Hand-Selected

Jamie and Jason personally source materials from gem shows and artisan studios around the world.

Made by Humans

Every imperfection is honest. Every variation is real. That's not a flaw — that's the whole point.

Our Creative Ohana

Some of our most beloved pieces include charms and elements designed by fellow artists we admire. When you see a maker credited in a product description — like our friend Dana's nautilus charm — that's a real collaboration between artisans who share the same values: quality materials, honest craftsmanship, and designs that carry meaning.

We believe jewelry is better when it has a story. And we're honored to share ours with every piece that leaves our studio.
